Governor Sununu, NH DMV and the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport get the word out about REAL ID

Manchester NH – On December 4, Governor Christopher T. Sununu, the New Hampshire Division of Motor Vehicles, and the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport reminded everyone to get a REAL ID compliant driver license.

"I strongly urge all Granite Staters to take a few moments out of their day and get a REAL ID," said Governor Chris Sununu. "Making the switch will ensure that you are compliant with new federal guidelines, and are able to easily travel both here in New Hampshire and across the country. The Division of Motor Vehicles is readily available to assist Granite Staters in making the transition, and has conveniently opened their offices this Saturday, December 8 and the second Saturday of every month to make the process as convenient as possible."

Soon, federally compliant identification will be required to board domestic flights and enter some federal facilities. New Hampshire Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offers REAL ID driver licenses and non-driver identification cards that are fully compliant with the federal requirements.

Participation in the REAL ID program is voluntary and other federally compliant identification, such as a passport, may also be used for domestic air travel. However, time is running out and we encourage New Hampshire residents who wish to obtain a REAL ID, to do so as soon as possible. REAL ID applications must be submitted in person.

To make REAL ID services more easily accessible to NH residents, the New Hampshire DMV will be adding Saturday hours at some locations.

On Saturday, December 8, 2018, and continuing the second Saturday of each month, the following DMV locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for REAL ID transactions only: Concord, Manchester, Nashua, Salem, Dover, and Twin Mountain.

Please visit the DMV during regular weekday hours to complete all other transactions.

Additional documentation is required when applying for REAL ID and should be gathered prior to your visit to the DMV. Documentation related to name changes due to marriage, divorce, adoption, etc., must be presented at the time of the transaction. There is no additional fee for REAL ID, but if it is not time for renewal, there is a $3 replacement fee.
